I´m a music fan first
Juan Andrés Vergara is a composer, producer and guitarist who creates immersive musical environments by observing the spatial behavior of sound. He defines his music as Nebular Music, as he generates diffuse harmonic bodies out of chaotic and detailed pointillistic textures that develop and morph gradually over time.
As a music fan, with intuition, he melds the contemporary concert, film and independent pop worlds in a spectrum of collaborative settings going from live performance and studio work to academic music, media music and song composition. Recently, he finished the score for the thriller Los Minutos Negros, a string quartet for JACK, and released his band's Plano debut album.
Over the last fifteen years, Juan Andrés has created music for media participating in award-winning short films, feature films, multimedia installations, advertising, and documentaries. He enjoys working with people in different collaborative settings to create profound bounds and moving results.

Juan Andrés recently worked in the animated short film Felt Love, awarded for Best Score at the Los Angeles Independent Short Film awards and the Changing Face International Film Festival in Australia. He also composed the score for Alana Simões´s opera prima "Mi Hermano" (Cannes Marché du Film) and worked in Pedro Gonzalez Rubio´s "Alamar" (Rotterdam and Morelia festivals winner), and José Manuel Cravioto´s "Olimpia" (Ariel winner) as additional music composer.
His music has been premiered in the U.S. and Mexico by soloists and ensembles like, Wild Up, Alterity Co, Jeffrey Zeigler, OFUNAM Philarmonic Orchestra, Cuarteto Latinoamericano, Irvine Arditti, Quinteto de Alientos de la Ciudad de México; in venues like the Walt Disney Hall, Sala Nezahualcóyotl, Mannes School of Music and the experimentation CMMAS in Morelia. His piece 3DOKU represented Mexico at UNESCO´s Composer´s Rostrum in 2014 and some his pieces were recognized in competitions like RED Note Festival, Alterity Co´s Call for Scores, José White ́s quartet competition, Museo del Quijote´s competition, and Ciudad Sinfónica.
In 2020, Plano, his band with Rodrigo Casarín, started releasing music in partnership with Canadian Label Arts & Crafts. Their songs are selected in editor´s playlists of all major music platforms and have been received with enthusiasm by media and radio. They worked on remixes for Rey Pila and Midnight Generation and continue to grow with more than 4 million streams.
In advertising, he is responsible for the music of 150 aired commercials for groups like Bayer, Chevrolet, Coca-Cola, Corona, Danone, DHL, Garnier, Kellog´s, Mattel, Metlife, Nestlé, Procter & Gamble, Purina, Schering-Plough including Promax winning campaigns for Televisa (one of Mexico´s major broadcasters) and Bimbo mantecadas theme which in 2011 became the iTunes Mexico No.1 Song Tan Solo Un Minuto performed by Río Roma. He has also composed songs for major artists like María León—earning a Silver Godess award Nomination—and Belinda.
In his adolescent years in Mexico City, he began making songs and bands with friends, then studied Contemporary Classical Composition at Centro de Investigación y Estudios de la Música under María Antonieta Lozano, Enrico Chapela, Víctor Rasgado and José Julio Díaz Infante. He earned two Licentiate Degrees in Composition and Music Theory by the London College of Music.
In 2017, participated in the LA Phil´s National Composer´s Intensive directed by Andrew Norman, which led him to a Master´s degree in Composition at New York University under a Fulbright Scholarship. After that he participated in Berlinale Talents.
